The Practice of Ashtanga Yoga
Wednesday December 12th
Cost: $60 advance / $65 day-of
Join Eddie for an evening workshop that will guide you into the practice and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga. This workshop is ideal for those curious about Ashtanga and looking to explore the practice, or for more experienced yogis looking to deepen their understanding of Ashtanga and refine their practice with such a skilled and experienced teacher.
This is a special opportunity to practice with a longtime student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the founder of Ashtanga Yoga. Eddie practiced with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois from 1991 until his passing in 2009, and now studies with his grandson Paramaguru R. Sharath Jois.
- ~ Eddie will talk about the techniques used in yoga, the philosophy behind the practice, the original meanings of the word vinyasa, and practice some of the poses from the primary series.
- ~ Part discussion and part practice, you will leave with a deeper understanding of the origins of vinyasa yoga.
- ~ He’ll also save time for questions, tips on how to start and maintain a practice, or anything else that is on your mind.
- ~ Beyond the traditional primary series, he will cover modifications of poses that are difficult and adaptations for practice if you have any injuries.
Ashtanga Yoga is a cohesive, structured practice of yoga that is meant to be internalized. Once you learn it, it is yours forever, to practice wherever you are!
