The Yoga of Giving Back
A Non-Profit dedicated to reducing hunger throughout New York City
Sunday November 12th Thru Saturday November 18th
10% of Revenue Will Be Donated to New York Common Pantry
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of thousands of New Yorkers and work with us to end hunger and homelessness? As the weather cools off and the holiday season falls quickly upon us, organizations like New York Common Pantry are generously giving back to our community, ensuring all people have access to healthy food, a place to sleep at night, and human support and connection. As we count our numerous blessings this holiday season, we are also practicing Yoga Seva by supporting NY Common Pantry. We hope you will join our efforts by coming to class during our Seva week and getting involved with this amazing organization!
Beyond nourishment, NY Common Pantry works to establish long term independence for the clients they serve. For instance, in addition to providing hot meals, they connect homeless visitors with resources and shelters. Plus case managers are available to work with each individual or family to address the reasons for food insecurity. What’s more is this incredible organization provides education, helping clientele learn about the benefits of consuming a nutritionally sound diet and active living. They strive to promote dignity and self-sufficiency in all that they do.
Your money goes far with this award-winning organization. As New York City’s largest single-site community based food pantries, New York Common Pantry offers meals and support services to nearly 400,000 people. Last year, they served over 6 million meals.
So where does Five Pillars come in and how can you join our efforts? For one week each month, we donate 10% of our revenue to non-profits providing incredible services to people in New York City and all over the globe. For the week before Thanksgiving, November 12th-18th, we are inviting you to join our efforts to help nourish people in New York City during the holidays: Come to class all week long to raise funds for NY Common Pantry and check out their website to donate.
