Join Teri for a special Stability Ball Pilates class that will guide you through the basic mat series and discuss ways to incorporate the stability ball into each exercise.
This class is an introduction to incorporating the stability ball into Pilates Mat exercises. For some exercises, it will make it easier to perform them correctly. For others, the instability of the ball as well as the increased range of motion it provides will challenge your balance and joint stability, and simulates many Reformer, Cadillac and Ladder Barrel Exercises. If you are looking for a class to strengthen your inner thighs, hamstrings and spinal extensors, this is the class for you. This class is part of the ReForMat TM repertoire created by Teri Lee Steele – which re-invents Pilates Apparatus exercises in a mat format to bring higher quality mat classes to serious exercise enthusiasts.

Teri will teach you how to use the stability ball to enhance your Pilates Mat experience. You will learn to powerfully activate the core and large muscles of the legs to create improved balance, range of motion and joint stability.

Teri Steele—owner and creator of the Steele Pilates Method—brings 20 years of experience as a Pilates instructor, athletic trainer, dance teacher and choreographer to Five Pillars. Known for her skilled sequencing and perfect pacing, Teri will give you a total body workout that leaves you feeling strong and balanced.
Teri uses her knowledge of anatomy, physics, exercise science, and the Pilates movement principles to create sessions which are client-specific in order to address and correct muscular and postural imbalances. Utilizing the Core Principal movements of Pilates as well as an understanding of the effects of gravity on the body in specific positions, she has created a vast repertoire of Pilates exercises which consistently challenge her clients and students. She is extremely attentive to the correct form while seeking to increase muscular strength, endurance, and range of motion.
STEELE PILATES truly focuses on the “how you are doing” versus the “what you are doing.” There is a greater level of focus on the process rather than the product. This attention to detail enables every student to develop a positive relationship with their body – empowering them to make choices about their own movement quality and building the confidence and the desire to establish perfection. The classes are mentally and physically challenging.
