“The pelvic floor is the set of muscles at the base of the pelvis which contains and supports the pelvic and abdominal organs. I consider the pelvic floor “the floor of the core.” The pelvic floor is closely related to the abdominals, hips, thighs, gluteals and and postural muscles. Nothing exists in isolation.” – Liz Ilgenfritz



Join renowned yoga teacher Liz Ilgenfritz for an empowering educational and experiential workshop on the pelvic floor. During this two-hour workshop, Liz will guide you through practices that will help you to understand the state of your own pelvic floor. She will lead you through a sequence of yoga postures to stabilize, strengthen and lengthen the pelvic floor, bringing balance to this vital part of your body.


  • – Demystify the pelvic floor with a deep dive into anatomy and physiology.
  • – Discover how posture and breath are integrally related to pelvic health and your overall wellbeing.
  • – Learn how to strengthen your core with techniques that will make your abdominal work 20% more effective.
  • – Begin to build strength and stability from deep within, and reap the benefits for a lifetime.

Both men and women benefit from Pelvic Floor Yoga. Daily stress, poor postural habits, digestive and reproductive issues, childbirth, age, surgery, past injuries and trauma can all lead to issues with the pelvic floor. When the pelvic floor loses strength, you may experience poor posture, a week bladder, fatigue and back aches. This workshop will address common issues, teach you about your personal equilibrium, and empower you with practices that can guide you towards balance.

Liz Ilgenfritz teaches at Yoga Shanti and is a graduate, faculty member and lead mentor of their teacher training program. Liz is also an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist and Reiki practitioner who has completed further trainings in teaching yoga for the pelvic floor. She has an innate curiosity about human anatomy and the subtle body and teaches with a very embodied, practical approach. As a lifelong athlete, her experiences in sports including tennis, kickboxing and snowboarding have provided her a broad field of knowledge in fitness and movement. Since graduating from NYU Stern School of Business, Liz’s career has spanned from the trading floors of Wall Street to importing furniture from Indonesia to creating Elixir Juice Bars in 1999. As a teacher, mentor and a mother of four, Liz is perpetually interested in an exploration of the mind, body and our inner wisdom.
