Five Pillars Yoga

Vida Dominguez

Where are you from?
Born in California, raised in Brooklyn.

How did you come to Yoga? How and when did your yoga practice begin?
When I was a freshman at Laguardia H.S. our ballet teacher would give us a “stretch class” and guided meditation. I loved how therapeutic the asanas were for my stressed out body. After becoming a parent I developed a committed yoga and meditation practice at Jivamukti.

Who inspires you?
Ram Dass, Josh Korda from Dharma Punx, and my seven-year-old son.

How would you describe your teaching style?
I can summarize my classes up as feisty flows, fun and free.

Which posture helps you Go Deep?
Pranayama makes me go deep. All of the Asanas clear out my body so I can meditate and go deep!

Silence or music in class?
MUSIC!! I play an eclectic mix ranging from highbrow to lowbrow and traditional yoga kirtan.

Do you have a spirit animal?
Joe’s Pizza!
